How To Change The Keyfob Battery For A Land Rover Discovery Sport (2020–2024)
The 2020–2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport uses the updated JLR smart key. Replacing the CR2032 battery is a 3-minute job.

What You'll Need
- The keyfob itself
- Flat screwdriver or coin
- New CR2032 battery
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove the emergency blade
Press the release button and slide the metal blade out of the fob.
Open the casing
Use the blade edge or a coin at the seam gap to gently prise the two halves apart.
Swap the battery
Remove the old CR2032 and insert the new one, + side UP.
Close and test
Snap the two halves shut, reinsert the blade, and test the remote.
Pro Tip
All Land Rover models from 2013 onwards use the CR2032 battery — it's a universal fit across the JLR range.
Key Still Not Working?
If a fresh battery doesn't fix the issue, the problem is likely the vehicle's KVM module, a de-synced transponder, or a faulty key — not the battery. We diagnose and fix this on-site, same day.
