Range Rover Evoque Key Fob Battery Replacement
The Range Rover Evoque — across both generations (L538 and L551) — uses the standard JLR proximity smart key with a CR2032 battery. Here's how to replace it.

What You'll Need
- The keyfob itself
- Flat screwdriver or coin
- New CR2032 battery
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove the emergency blade
Press the release button and slide the metal blade out from the bottom of the fob.
Prise open the casing
Use the flat edge of the blade to find and open the seam gap. Gently twist to separate the two halves.
Replace the battery
Remove the old CR2032 and insert the new one with the + side facing UP.
Reassemble and test
Press the two halves together until they click. Reinsert the blade and test.
Pro Tip
2019+ Evoque models may occasionally need the car to be unlocked manually with the blade before the remote re-syncs after a battery swap.
Key Still Not Working?
If a fresh battery doesn't fix the issue, the problem is likely the vehicle's KVM module, a de-synced transponder, or a faulty key — not the battery. We diagnose and fix this on-site, same day.
