How To Change The Keyfob Battery For A Jaguar I-Pace (2018–2024)
The Jaguar I-Pace (2018–2024) uses the same JLR InControl proximity smart key as the E-Pace and XF. Replacing the CR2032 battery takes about 3 minutes.

What You'll Need
- The keyfob itself
- Flat screwdriver or coin
- New CR2032 battery
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove the emergency blade
Press the small release tab on the bottom of the keyfob and slide the metal emergency key out.
Open the casing
Insert the flat edge of the emergency blade or a coin into the seam gap and twist gently to separate the two halves.
Replace the battery
Lift out the old CR2032 battery and insert the new one with the positive (+) side facing UP.
Close and test
Snap the two halves firmly together until they click. Reinsert the blade and test all buttons.
Pro Tip
As an EV, the I-Pace keyfob may drain its battery slightly faster if left near the vehicle for long periods. Store the key more than 5 metres from the car when not in use to preserve battery life.
Key Still Not Working?
If a fresh battery doesn't fix the issue, the problem is likely the vehicle's KVM module, a de-synced transponder, or a faulty key — not the battery. We diagnose and fix this on-site, same day.
