How To Change The Keyfob Battery For A Land Rover Discovery Sport (2015–2019)
The 2015–2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport (L550) uses the first-generation JLR proximity smart key. Replacing the CR2032 battery takes just a few minutes.

What You'll Need
- The keyfob itself
- Flat screwdriver or coin
- New CR2032 battery
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove the emergency blade
Press the release tab and slide the metal emergency blade out of the fob.
Open the casing
Use the blade edge or a coin at the seam gap to gently prise the two halves apart.
Swap the battery
Remove the old CR2032 and insert the new one with the positive (+) side facing UP.
Close and test
Snap the two halves shut, reinsert the blade, and test the remote.
Pro Tip
Early Discovery Sport models (2015–2017) share the same keyfob as the Range Rover Evoque — the battery and procedure are identical.
Key Still Not Working?
If a fresh battery doesn't fix the issue, the problem is likely the vehicle's KVM module, a de-synced transponder, or a faulty key — not the battery. We diagnose and fix this on-site, same day.
